3. How We Use Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes.
- Providing, maintaining, and authenticating the App (sign-in, saving and syncing data)
- Generating and displaying “AI cheer” (praise, empathy, advice, encouragement) for your diary
- Providing features such as companion growth, streaks, and records (review)
- Providing and managing subscriptions and billing
- Displaying, delivering, and measuring ads (on the free plan)
- Detecting issues, improving quality, and preventing misuse
- Responding to your inquiries
We do not use your diary text or other user content to train generative AI models.
4. Storage, Encryption, and Location of Data
- User content (such as diaries) is encrypted on your device before it is stored and synced. The encryption key is managed on your device and is deleted from the device when you sign out.
- Account information, user content, and profiles are stored in Google Firebase (Authentication / Cloud Firestore / Cloud Storage) as our backend. This data is managed under access controls (security rules) that, in principle, allow only you to read and write it.
- Through Firebase, data may be stored and processed on servers located outside Japan (see Section 10).
5. Third-Party Services and Sharing
The App uses the following third-party services to provide its features. Each provider handles data in accordance with its own privacy policy and under protection equal to or greater than that required by this policy and applicable law. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties beyond these purposes.
| Service | Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase (Authentication / Firestore / Cloud Storage / Crashlytics / Messaging) | Google LLC | Authentication, data storage and sync, crash analytics, notifications | https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy / https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Sign-In | Google LLC | Sign-in authentication | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Sign in with Apple / In-App Purchase (StoreKit) | Apple Inc. | Sign-in authentication, subscription billing | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
| Google AdMob (including UMP consent management) | Google LLC | Ad delivery and measurement (free plan) | https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
| Claude API | Anthropic PBC | Generating “AI cheer” based on your diary text | https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy |
6. Processing by AI (Claude API)
For the “AI cheer” feature, the diary text you enter and related records are sent to and processed by Anthropic’s Claude API for the purpose of generating feedback. The transmission takes place through our server (Firebase Cloud Functions) and is limited to authenticated users. Neither we nor Anthropic use this data to train generative AI models.
7. Advertising (Free Plan)
On the free plan, ads are displayed through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, Google may collect information such as device identifiers and usage data. The scope of collection and the obtaining of consent follow Google’s policies and the consent form shown in the App (Google User Messaging Platform). No ads are shown on the Premium (paid) plan.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
- Each type of data is retained for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes above, or until you delete your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from “My Page” in the App. Deletion is carried out after a two-step confirmation and performs the following:
- Deletion of your server-side (Firestore) data (daily records, AI usage, profile)
- Deletion of your Firebase Authentication account (with re-authentication if required)
- Sign-out from Google and erasure of local data and the encryption key on the device
- After deletion, the user data stored on the server and on that device is completely removed. Any data remaining in backups or logs is erased within a reasonable period.
9. Your Rights and Withdrawing Consent
- You may request deletion of your data by deleting your account (Section 8).
- You can review your consent regarding advertising through the in-app consent form (Google UMP).
- Signing out deletes the encryption key and local data on your device.
- For other requests such as disclosure or correction of your personal information, please contact us at the point of contact in Section 1.
10. International Data Transfers
Services used by the App, such as Firebase, AdMob, and the Claude API, may store and process data on servers located outside Japan. We use these services on the premise that each provider maintains appropriate safeguards.
11. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that we have unintentionally collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this policy in response to changes in law or the service. If we make material changes, we will announce them in the App or on this page. If you continue to use the App after a revision, you are deemed to have agreed to the revised policy.
